Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1. to study prevention strategies on drug addiction in secondary schools in Sukhothai province 2. to create prevention strategies on drug addiction applying the Four Noble Truths in secondary schools in Sukhothai province 3. to evaluate prevention strategies on drug addiction applying the Four Noble Truths in secondary schools in Sukhothai province


The research was divided into 3 parts. Part 1 Studying prevention strategies on drug addiction in secondary schools in Sukhothai province. There were 17 informants by using semi – structured interview and analyzing the contents. Part 2 Creating prevention strategies on drug addiction applying the Four Noble Truths in secondary schools in Sukhothai province. There were 13 informants by using group conversation and recording form of group conversation. recording and content analysis. Part 3 Evaluating prevention strategies oo drug addiction applying the Four Noble Truths in secondary schools in Sukhothai province. The informants were 30 directors of secondary schools by using the evaluating form which asked 4 aspects : accuracy, suitability possibility of doing and benefit. The data was statistically analyzed by mean.


The results of this research were as follows :


1.The results of studying prevention strategies on drug addiction in secondary schools in Sukhothai province found that students, schools    and community were associated to solve problems, pass laws about drug prevention and suppression, heal drug – addicted people. Parents took care children and educated them. Schools educated students how to protect themselves from drug addiction and how to encounter with problems. Government supported drug suppression sector. Students were encouraged to live happily. Surroundings in school, home and community were improved to prevent drugs. Emphasized the campaign of drug prevention. Created atmosphere and immunity in school to prevent drugs. Educated students how to refuse drugs. Asked for cooperation from parents, friends and community in drug control and suppression in schools. School had a plan, procedure, way, activity  to prevent and solve drug problems. Schools had schedule of activities to prevent drugs with target group of students and had student care and support system.


  1. The result of creating prevention strategies on drug addiction applying the Four Noble Truths in secondary schools in Sukhothai province found that 1) Prevention strategies on drug addiction applying “Dukka” (Suffering) had 12 activities. 2) Prevention strategies on drug addiction applying “Samudava” (Causes of suffering) had 18 activities. 3) Prevention strategies on drug addiction applying “Nirodha” (Cessation of suffering) had 14 activities. 4) Prevention strategies on drug addiction applying “Magga” (Way to the cessation of suffering) had 27 activities.

  2. The result of evaluating prevention strategies on drug addiction applying the Four Noble Truths in secondary schools in Sukhothai province found that all of the 4 strategies were over all the most levels.
