Lighting quality and complaint survey in OPD Sripat Medical Center, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University

This research is a survey of lighting quality and feedback from the out-patient departments (OPD), Sripat Medical Center. The survey was conducted using questionnaire interview about lighting quality, and measuring lighting level concurrently. The 200 interviewees were asked in five public areas: information and meeting points, screening point, cashier and pharmacy, lift hall and corridor; and in five clinic department: ophthalmology, oto-rhino-laryngologie, orthopedist, internal medicine, and health and beauty clinic. The objective of the study is to identify problems from the occupants related to lighting quality in the OPD. The result shows that overall lighting in general public areas were qualified for brightness, while brightness in majority areas of the department are lower than the lighting regulation standard. Theoretically, occupational mistake could happen in this situation. Although the respondents denied that error in medical treatment did not occur, they admitted that their working performance would be better if lighting quality is improved. The first priority of complaint is specifically the lighting level in the medical department. Lighting uniformity and disturbed daylighting from the window are in the second and third priority concerning for improvement.
