The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship characteristic between the acting and space in the films by Tsai Ming-Liang which included the analysis of background, the works, the inspiration of such films and to survey ideas of casting and directing. The research includes the review of his 9 films with the in-depth interviews to 11 people who are the expertise and specialists in the stage drama and film. The finding indicates that;

1. The background, self identity, various experiences and inspiration are significant to the ideas of Tsai Ming Liang to form his identical works that portrays the universe of loneliness, solitarily and the dissimilarity of characters which proved to be strange with the surrounding that they inhabit.

2. Tsai Ming-Liang conveyed the loneliness, solitarily and the dissimilarity by using long-take camera technique, which is the same technique that is applied form stage theatre, providing the audiences watch the ongoing event and the characters. He also keep the audiences apart from his film, therefore, the scenes may look strange with a space to the audiences that leads to the main idea that Tsai wishes.

3. The casting is filled with the old group of actors and suit to the filmûs characters. Tsai has to communicate with his actors more often because his films are all short of conversation. And the actors decided to speak to their audiences efficiently to avoid the miscommunication.

4. The staging is used to convey different meanings and messages which included the set of surrounding, the narrow space, the reflection of the family bonds and the formation of interaction. These different kinds of staging are found in his films from times to times and form the unity of stage theatre and film, consequently form as his identity in his films.
