Conceptual Framework of Code of Ethics of Children Radio Program

Abstract

Although children radio programs have been launched in Thailand for many years, the achievement in implementing the code of ethics to regulate children radio programs was recently announced by the Kids Radio Club in 2012. This study used documentary analysis and in-depth interview to find out the concurrence of ethics for kid radio programs and universal conceptual framework of ethics for press, and to analyze the lost identity. The study result shows that code of ethics for children radio program has placed its content under the conceptual framework which is relevant to the universal principle on ethics for press. It emphasizes on ethics under the concept of rights, human rights, accuracy, objectivity, moral, responsibility and well-being. However, the consistency in ethical universalization has limited the ethical conceptual framework into only one form. The vital missing part of children radio programs is identity of childhood that would have to link deeply with ethical dimension in terms of child psychology, imagination, creativity, the use of appropriate language, violence which is prohibited for children, principle of love, and diversity of children.
