“สังข์” เครื่องดนตรีในพิธีกรรมศักดิ์สิทธิ์ “Conch shell” Musical Instruments divine ceremony

Abstract

          สังข์มีความสำคัญมาแต่โบราณตามแบบที่ได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากศาสนาพราหมณ์ ทำให้ได้รับความนิยมและแพร่หลายไปถึงบุคคลทั่วไป จากคติความเชื่อทำให้สังข์ถูกนำมาใช้ประโยชน์โดยเฉพาะการใช้งานที่เป็นมงคล สำหรับสังข์ที่ใช้รดน้ำ ใช้ตามความเชื่อจากกำเนิดสังข์ที่มีความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เมื่อน้ำไหลผ่านสังข์แล้วถือเป็นมงคล ส่วนสังข์ที่ใช้เป่าเป็นวิธีการใช้งานตั้งแต่โบราณ โดยการเป่าให้เกิดเสียงก้องกังวาน ใช้เป็นทั้งเครื่องดนตรีและการส่งสัญญาณ ตามความเชื่อทางศาสนาพราหมณ์ถือเป็นเสียงมงคลด้วยเสียงที่ดังคล้าย “โอม”

ซึ่งเป็นคำศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ทั้งสังข์รดน้ำและสังข์เป่ายังคงใช้ในพิธีมงคลสมรสและพิธีกรรมบางอย่างอันเกี่ยวเนื่องกับพระมหากษัตริย์ อาจจะมีพิธีกรรมบางอย่างถูกยกเลิกไปบ้างเนื่องจากยุคสมัยที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลง อีกทั้ง คำว่า “สังข์”  ยังสามารถนำมาใช้ประกอบเป็นชื่อเพลงและมีความหมายในบทเพลง

          ดังนั้น “สังข์” จึงเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความเป็นสิริมงคลในพิธีกรรมศักดิ์สิทธิ์ต่างๆ ดังที่ได้กล่าวมาแล้วและมีบทบาทอย่างสูงตามแรงสาปของพระนารายณ์ทั้งสิ้น ตั้งแต่งานในพระราชวังจนกระทั่งถึงงานของกลุ่มสามัญชน ล้วนแต่มีโอกาสนำสังข์มาใช้กันอย่างทั่วถึง
