Abstract
The research purpose of packaging development for I-san silk products within Khonkane province is to gather the information for designing the best strategy of packaging development plan; such as creating the demo of packaging that has a unique brand for silk product in Khonkane community, enhancing the productûs appearance for the better impact in the market.Researcher has chosen to study this development in 2 areas: Nong- Yah-Plong Silk group of Tumbon Ponesri, Manchakiri district, Khonkane, and Chon-na-bot silk group in Khonkaen, from the potential groups in silk development. These 2 groups have displayed a strong potential and high quality in producing silk (the silk is all handmade and has their own distinct design) that has been passed on through times.However, the problems of silk product packaging are clearly shown in both groups such lacking of style and design that importantly enhance the productûs interest, absence of their own logo trademark as well as productûs label which could create a unique identity of the product.
During the research process, researcher has gathered the basic information of those 2 groups and their management styles, studied and compared silk markets as well as other competitors, studied the old packaging that those 2 groups have been using. At the same time, planing the packaging development strategy for both groups.After having studied a raw data receiving from the first survey, researcher has done the first draft written as suggestions and knowledge exchange between researcher and producers which is based on qualitative research method and specific targets. Then, using this knowledge to plan the packaging development according to groups demands, for instance, packaging design development, logo design, color and material design for packaging.The second step is to revise and improve the packaging development plan through the eyes of experts (graphics and packaging designers) in packaging design and the impact of packaging design to market, and marketing itself. This has giving valuable advice to researcher. Also, the demo of packaging design has been produced in real-size for silk products in these groups.Inevitably, packaging is one of the important factors to create a good first impression and to enhance productûs appearance. Thus, encouraging the packaging development and creating a unique brand for silk product in Khonkane is necessary for improving and enhancing the product in the market domestically and internationally.Article Details
