Analysis of Mock Exams Based on the "A-level87Chi" Reform Direction

Abstract

Thailand’s college entrance examination was reformed in 2023. The name of the Thai Chinese college entrance examination subject was changed from PAT7.4 to A-level87Chi. In Chinese, A-Level (Applied Knowledge Level) refers to the ability to apply knowledge gained in a course. It is clear that the focus of this examination reform is on the application and communicative functions of language.

On November 27, 2022, an online mock exam based on the newly revised direction of the Chinese college entrance examination subjects were held. Through interviews with candidates and Chinese teachers, the author analyzes the model test data, and presents the overall level of Chinese language scores of Thai Chinese students. According to the study’s finding, the A-level87Chi reform reflects the direction of examination reform, which emphasizes the application and communication functions of language. Encourage students to change their learning goals from exam preparation to knowledge acquisition.
