A Changing Life and Literature of Xiao Hong in Tokyo

In 1936, after gaining her fame in Shanghai, Xiao Hong decided to leave for Tokyo, Japan in July the same year due to her concerns of being in a relationship with Xiao Jun and her obstacles to writing. This essay examined and analyzed Xiao Hong’s reasons of leaving for Japan, her life there including the changes in her literature and discovering her true self through her writing while living in Tokyo and letters to Xiao Jun.
