American Modern Cultures in The West Wind Monthly

Abstract

In The West Wind Monthly (1936-1949), lots of articles (translation or writing) were published to introduce the American modern cultures, including advanced knowledge of science and technology, and pioneering thoughts and ideas, especially those on “tomorrow’s world” and modern sex education. Both enlightening and interesting, these articles not only helped Chinese readers expand their horizon of the world and improve their lifestyle, but also led them to an urgent willingness to make China moving forward following the Western examples.
