Abstract

          This research aimed to 1) to factors influencing the creation of Isan dance of Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts and 2) to identity of Isan dance of Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts. Qualitative research was used, mainly by collecting field data. A set of 13 Isan dance performances of Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts were selected, which were created and popular until they became important forms of transmission and learning that could not be changed, and were outstanding in Isan folk performances. Data were then collected and recorded according to the research objectives, using descriptive analysis.
          The results of the study showed that 1) Factors influencing the creation of Isan dance by Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts consist of 2 important factors: social, cultural and intellectual factors, and competition and social identity creation factors, which are important factors supporting the creation of Isan dance works by Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts. 2) As for the identity that appears in Isan dance, it relies on 3 components: dressing, dance postures and music, which support and harmonize until the costume and performance become an identity, until it becomes a memorable image that clearly differentiates from other institutions. In terms of dressing, it was found that the sleeveless shirt and the short sarong are the most popular dressing identity in almost every performance. As for the accessories, the most popular are silver accessories. In terms of dance postures, it was found that the circle dance and the sitting dance postures are dance postures found in almost every performance. As for the musical identity, it was found that the most popular musical rhythm is the Lam Plearn rhythm, followed by the Phu Thai Kalasin rhythm. Which is considered the musical identity of Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts.
