The Development of a Knowledge Management Model for the Use of Thai Herbs to Enhance Quality of Life for the Elderly

Abstract

This research aims that 1. to study the conditions and problems in knowledge management regarding the use of Thai herbs. To enhance the quality of life of the elderly. 2. to create a knowledge management model for the use of Thai herbs to enhance the quality of life of the elderly. and 3. to develop a knowledge management model for using Thai herbs to enhance the quality of life of the elderly. By conducting research from document analysis. and the use of focus group techniques, a sample group of 13 people. Collected through structured interviews to study knowledge management conditions and problems.  In-Depth Interview to create a knowledge management model. The model was evaluated by 9 experts and the model was tested with 30 elderly people. The results of the research found that: 1. Conditions and problems in knowledge management regarding the use of Thai herbs. To enhance the quality of life of the elderly, it was found that (1) creating and seeking knowledge about the use of herbs comes from passing on stories from generation to generation, legends and recipes for potions have been passed down for a long time. and direct experiences of the elderly Storing knowledge systematically. (2) Storing and searching for knowledge on the use of herbs as holistic medicine. Mostly, they keep a record of themselves and pass it on to their children and grandchildren. Currently, Alternative medicine, Thai traditional medicine, and trade and investment. (3) Exchange of knowledge the exchange of knowledge in the use of herbs comes from asking questions and asking questions from knowledgeable people. and those who have experience in using herbs before knowledge is managed in the form of documents, files, and research by government and private agencies on the use of certain herbs in modern medicine, organizing activities where the elderly share their experiences in using herbs, precautions, indications, and other useful things; and (4) applying knowledge. Access to information for the elderly due to physical changes and diseases that prevent the use of knowledge effectively and 2. The results of creating a knowledge management model for the use of Thai herbs to enhance the quality of life of the elderly found that (1) a knowledge management model for the use of Thai herbs to enhance the quality of life of the elderly consists of 6 Components as follows: (1) knowledge acquisition (2) knowledge storage (3) knowledge sharing (4) knowledge application (utilizing) (5) information technology (6) information dissemination.
