Effects of online teaching and learning management with Google Classroom applications upon Inquiry based learning Influence of the Executive Functions of undergraduate students at Bangkokthonburi University

Abstract

           This research study examines the effects of online teaching using Google Classroom with an inquiry-based learning approach on the Executive Function (EF) skills of undergraduate students at Bangkok Thonburi University. The aims of this research were to: 1) create and develop an online teaching and learning system using Google Classroom to enhance thinking skills for successful lives of undergraduate students, and 2) study the results of online teaching and learning using a search-based Google Classroom program on the Thinking Skills for Successful Life of undergraduate students. The sample group consisted of 28 bachelor's degree students in Early Childhood Education at Bangkok Thonburi University for the academic year 2020. They were specifically selected from students enrolled in the course "Innovation and Information Technology in Education." The research instruments consisted of: 1) a Thinking Skills Assessment Form for successful student life, 2) a behavior observation form for online teaching and learning with Google Classroom, and 3) a Student Satisfaction Assessment Form for teaching and learning management. Data analysis used basic statistics including mean, standard deviation, and comparison of mean differences by    t-test. The research results establish that:
          The online learning management system utilizing the Google Classroom program for developing thinking skills for successful lives of undergraduate students at Bangkok Thonburi University can be defined in 3 steps: Step 1 - Preparation, Step 2 - Learning Activities, and Step 3 - Assessment of Learning. The effectiveness of lessons during and after learning (E1/E2) satisfied the set criteria of 80/80 with an efficiency of 82.92/83.24. Students' post-test scores were significantly higher than pre-test scores at the .05 level. Overall, students were highly satisfied with the online teaching and learning system using the Google Classroom program, based on the inquiry-based approach (mean = 4.25). This research provides guidelines for designing and creating an online learning management system using Google Classroom with an inquiry-based approach to enhance executive function skills of undergraduate students at Bangkok Thonburi University. Additionally, it can promote and develop the implementation of such a system to improve executive function skills of undergraduate students, ensuring quality, efficiency, and suitability for practical use.
