Legal Measures to Prison Food Costs

Abstract
The objectives of this research are: 1) study the concepts and theories regarding punishment of criminal offenders, 2) study the problems of expenses in prisons in Thailand, and 3) To provide recommendations as guidelines for developing legal measures to reduce expenses in prisons from food provision in Thailand.
This research is a qualitative research study. It is a study of data from documents mainly using primary data, including laws, books, articles, theses, research, and searching for data from electronic databases both in Thailand and abroad.
The research findings show that the large number of prisoners in prisons, the Department of Corrections has to bear the cost of taking care of prisoners. Therefore, the prison must provide welfare for prisoners regarding expenses in prison, such as food provision, education, rewards for work, unnecessary use of criminal law, and recidivism. Therefore, the author sees fit to reduce prison expenses from food provision, possibly by reducing per capita expenses, but the nutritional value must be calculated to be sufficient for energy consumption. If any prisoner wants to eat food other than what the prison provides, they can still use the money that their relatives leave for them according to the Department of Corrections regulations to buy food from the prison shop. and allowing prisoners to work and receive rewards for their work
