A Study of Mathematical Problem Solving Abilities on Linear Equations With One Variable Problems of Mathayomsuksa One Students After Learning Through Learning Activities that Promote the Use of Various Problem-Solving Strategies

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were to study the ability of solve mathematical problems on linear equations with one variable problems of Mathayomsuksa one students after learning through learning activities that promote that promotes the use of various problem-solving strategies and to study guidelines for organizing learning activities that promote the use of various problem-solving strategies through action research. The participants were 40 Mathayomsuksa one students at Rattanakosinsomphot Bangkhunthian School in the second semester at the academic year 2023. The tools used for data collection include lesson plan on the problems on with linear equations with one variable using a variety of problem-solving strategies and a mathematical Problem-Solving. Ability test which was verified the content validity by experts. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages, means, and standard deviations. The qualitative data was analyzed by using content analysis. The research results showed that 90 percent of the students were at a good level of mathematical problem solving ability. and the percentage of the average of the mathematical problem-solving scores was 78.75 The guidelines for organizing learning activities that promote the use of a variety of problem-solving strategies include encouraging students to engage in class discussion about choosing strategies for understanding and planning problem-solving, the steps in problem-solving process, and checking the reasonableness of the answers.
