Abstract

          Caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease It is a crisis situation for the patient's family. Because of the need for long-term care Patients with Alzheimer's disease from the early stages to the final stages Most are cared for at home. The researcher works at the inspection unit with special equipment. Police hospitals often receive questions from relatives of patients regarding patient care and how to behave. Therefore, the competency of caregivers of Alzheimer's patients was studied. To help evaluate and prepare recommendations for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients to provide appropriate care for the patients.
This research is a descriptive research. To study the competencies of caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. The sample group is Primary caregivers of Alzheimer's patients who come to receive the services of the inspection unit with special equipment police hospital Simple random selection of 127 people. The tools used in the research are Competency questionnaire for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients receiving services at Police Hospital. Passed a quality check by 3 experts and obtained an IOC=.84 Cronbach's alpha coefficient=.82. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
          The research results found that
          1. The most knowledgeable caregivers have about Alzheimer's patients is in talking to Alzheimer's patients. You must speak clearly, make eye contact, smile, and sometimes compliment. They gave the most encouragement, accounting for 94.50 percent. The aspect that viewers had the least knowledge about that caregivers of Alzheimer's patients had was that Alzheimer's patients had the ability to perform daily activities.
