The Aesthetic Value Study of Language in the Liao Songs of the Zhuang Ethnic Group

Abstract

          The objective of this study is to examine the language aesthetic values present in the Liao Song (liáo gē) of the Zhuang ethnic group through the application of linguistic semiotics concepts. This study employed aesthetic theory in its analysis, dividing the sample population into two distinct groups. Group 1 consisted of nine key informants, while Group 2 comprised 17 experts in the field of Zhuang's Liao Song. The researchers employed sound recording devices and performed data analysis using literary data analysis approaches. Based on an analysis of 28 Liao songs sourced from the "Zhuang Folk Song Repository: Liao Song " it was observed that the linguistic expressive qualities present in Liao songs from Zhuang are characterised by the utilisation of rhyme patterns and idiomatic expressions. Specifically, the songs exhibit clear adherence to rhyme rules, with distinct patterns of mid-word (waist) and end-word (foot) touch, as well as end-word (foot) and initial-word (head) rhyme. Idiomatic expressions in the songs include the use of metaphors and similes, reflecting the linguistic characteristics of the Zhuang ethnic group.
