Extension of Palm Oil Production In Collaborative Farming, Thasae District,Chumphon Province

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were to study 1) social and economic conditions  2) palm oil production conditions 3) extension needs of palm oil production in collaboration and 4) problems of extension needs with palm oil production in collaboration with farmers. The population of this research was palm Oil farmers participating in collaboration in Thasae district, Chumphon province. The number of 261 members who registered with the Department of Agricultural Extension in 2022. The 158-sample size was based on the Taro Yamane formula with an error value of 0.05. Structured interviews were used for data collection. Statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, minimum, maximum, standard deviation, and ranking. The results indicated that 1) most of the farmers were male, and the average age was 59.15 years. The average experience growing palm oil was 27.50 years. The average palm oil planting area was 25.50 rai. The average palm oil production worker was 2.20 people. The average palm oil production cost was 7,738.29 baht/rai. The average palm oil production income was 12,760.12 baht/rai.2) All farmers grow Tenera palm oil. The soil condition for planting was loam, prepared before planting by setting a planting distance of 9×9 meters. Farmers apply fertilizer 3.00 times/year, palm oil cutting involves hiring a cutter. 3) Farmers were extension needs of palm oil production in collaborative farming in terms of support from the government to raise the quality of the product. And 4) Farmers had problems in the extension of palm oil production in collaborative farming in terms of sales.
