Cultural Capital Management Model for Sustainable Grassroots Economic Development of the Thai Song Dam Ethnic Group in the Lower Northern Region

Abstract

          This research aims to study the conditions for managing cultural capital. Guidelines for managing cultural capital and present a model for cultural capital management and sustainable grassroots economic development of the Thai Songdam ethnic group in the lower northern region. This is a qualitative research of the Thai Song Dam ethnic group in 5 provinces/province using in-depth interviews. and analyze the content using triangles From key informants, experts in community culture, administrative departments, and local government organizations. It focuses on how cultural capital affects development. And what are the processes for strengthening the economy in the community.
          The findings found that the cultural capital management model of the Thai Song Dam ethnic group in the lower northern region contains the input data as follows: the community should embrace the principles of His Majesty King Rama IX's work, "Know, Love, Unity." and bring in the tangible cultural capital including the way of life in terms of housing and buildings, clothing, food, and tools.  In addition, intangible cultural capital should include ways of life in language, rituals, beliefs, performing arts, and cultural traditions through the management process as follows: the conservation of cultural capital, inheriting cultural capital, developing and expanding cultural capital to strengthen the grassroots economy and creating networks and engaging with all sectors. The operation process is based on the "Thai Song Dam" model. Output is that the Thai Song Dam ethnic group has a good quality of life. There is conservation, inheriting the culture and identity of Thai Song Dam, having a strong economic base and community capital, and the Brand Image of Thai Song Dam.
