The establishment of the Khanom Sang Learning Centre by the Municipal Government of Bang Riang Subdistrict, Kuan Niang District, Songkhla Province

Abstract

           The objective of this research endeavour is to examine the historical and ancestral origins of of Khanom Sang in Bang Reang, Songkhla. Furthermore, the aim is to establish and administer a center of education for Bang Reang’ Khanom Sang, while concurrently cultivating and disseminating knowledge. Additionally, the goal is to promote and facilitate accessibility to the learning center for Bang Reang’ Khanom Sang, as well as the wider learning network within the community. The sources of data encompass elderly individuals, households, and groups involved in the production of "Khanom Sang," amounting to a total of 36 individuals. In order to extract information, group discussions and semi-structured interviews were conducted. The outcomes of this research indicate that within the Bang Riang Sub-district, the inhabitants possess a cultural way of life that involves a longstanding tradition of crafting "Khanom Sang" spanning over a century. Consequently, a learning center for "Khanom Sang" has been instituted as a result of this research in order to revitalize local wisdom and serve as an educational resource for students and individuals with a vested interest. The establishment criteria for the center encompass personnel, budgetary considerations, material facilities, and overall management. To amplify the visibility of the "Khanom Sang" learning center, public relations activities have been undertaken, employing integrated communication strategies both online and offline. This research has significantly contributed to the establishment of a learning center that functions as a hub of community knowledge for the native treat, "Khanom Sang," ultimately seeking to enhance awareness and potentially augment the income of community members in the forthcoming years.
