Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this research was to investigate the management practices and strategies necessary to achieve high organizational capacity in the Faculty of Nursing in private universities in Bangkok. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative studies. The data collection methods included semi-structured interviews and questionnaire surveys. Content analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data, while the quantitative data was analyzed using One Sample T-test. The research was conducted in two phases. In Phase 1, experienced educational administrators in the nursing faculty with at least 10 years of management experience were interviewed to examine the current state of management towards high organizational capacity. The findings revealed limitations in areas such as financial management, resource allocation, and meeting societal expectations. The dimensions of management towards high organizational capacity were ranked in order of importance as follows: 1) Excellent job performance, 2) Leadership qualities, 3) Knowledge management, 4) Human resource management, 5) Development and utilization of technology, and 6) Organizational culture. Based on these findings, a questionnaire was developed and administered to 234 practitioners in the nursing faculty of a private university. The results indicated that the participants recognized the importance of developing quality management towards high organizational capacity across all six dimensions. The perception and actual implementation of management practices exceeded the threshold of 3.5, which was statistically significant (p < .01).In Phase 2, in-depth interviews were conducted with qualified individuals who had participated in Phase 1 to explore strategies for developing management practices towards high organizational capacity. The identified dimensions included human resource management, leadership qualities, knowledge management, learning management, and work practices towards high organizational capacity.
The research findings contribute significantly to the enhancement of quality management and high organizational capacity in the nursing faculty. They emphasize the need for changes in human resources, leadership, knowledge management, learning management, and work practices towards high organizational capacity. These results have practical implications for the development of management practices in nursing faculties and other similar organizations.
