Attitude of People Towards the Establishment Biomass Power Plant in Phetchaburi Province

Abstract

          The purpose of this research was to 1) study general information, gender, age, education level, knowledge and attitudes of people towards the establishment biomass power plant in Phetchaburi province and 2) to study people's attitudes in establishing community biomass power plants in 3 issues: gender differences; Age and occupation. The quantitative research was used, sample group in this research was 406 people in Phetchaburi province by accidental sampling without criteria in 8 districts calculated from Tara Yamane's formula. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and rating scale. The results showed in percentile, means, standard deviation and one-way ANOVA analysis was also presented between sex, age and occupation and people's attitudes towards biomass power plant establishment. The results showed that attitudes of people were at a high level (4.07). For the average knowledge about biomass power plants, most of the people's knowledge was more than 80 percent, especially about the cost of energy production, with 89.4 percent, the cost of energy production is cheaper than other forms with 96.1 percent, know that agricultural waste such as stubble, rice straw, and wood chips can be used as fuel for production, 83.7 percent and 96.1 percent know that the establishment of a power plant should it is close to the source of raw materials and should not be built near communities or residences and 89.2 percent know, biomass power plants have methods to reduce dust and gas pollution problems, biomass power plants are alternative energy, it is clean energy and helps reduce energy shortage problems with 97.3 percent, 96.6 and 98.0 percent, respectively. However, there should be a forum to educate the public on all issues.
