Need assessment and Development Guidelines for teaching and learning development Medical Illustrations course, Faculty of Medicine, Vajira Hospital

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were to study: 1) to study of the opinions of those involved in the course and students toward the teaching and learning condition of the medical Illustrations course of the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital 2) to assess the needs assessment of students in the teaching and learning of the medical illustrations course. of the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital and Propose a guideline for teaching and learning in medical illustrations courses. of the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Method of this research is exploratory research. Quantitative data were collected from online questionnaires and qualitative data from semi-structured interviews with 3 relevant subjects and 4 students in both fields. Statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and priority index of Need assessment. and qualitative data analysis by content analysis. 
          The results showed that 1) The teaching and learning condition of the subject of medical illustration which is an elective subject course stakeholders expect this course to enable students to research, search and analyze data. and have basic skills in using presentation programs, editing, and creating medical media to disseminate knowledge to educate the public and may be used in future careers or can be transmitted to other people and students from both branches agreed. This course is important and useful. Including having the opportunity to practice and apply it in other subjects as well however though still not ready for the classroom technological resources and learning support in the classroom is not suitable for small group activities. 2) Students prioritize the ability to apply what they have learned about medical media production to transfer medical and health science knowledge. Most interested in learning hand-painted skills followed by Skills for the process of using art therapy to convey feelings and the skill of illustrating medical textbooks and articles. 3) For the teaching and learning guidelines for this course based on the results of this research.
          From the results of this research, developing the skills that students are interested in in the top three above. which does not require as many technological resources as learning all 7 skills also gives students time to practice to gain expertise until they can be applied in real life well and more fluent.
