The Music on Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism in Thai Social Context

Abstract

          The study " The Music on Tibetan Vajrayana  Buddhism in Thai Social Context" was based on the qualitative research. The objectives of this research were 1) to study the Vajrayana  Buddhism in Thai social context; and 2) to analyze the music on Tibetan Vajrayana  Buddhism in Thai social context. In terms of the data collection, this qualitative research was used by ethnomusicology methods including the documentary survey, fieldwork, note – taking, recording, In-depth interview, observation, and participatory process. The data analyzed by descriptive analytics in accordance with the objectives. The results of the research were as follows: 1) For the Vajrayana Buddhism in Thai social context, there were main 3 Vajrayana Buddhism propagations : Dhamma center, literature review, information technology; and 2) As regards the music on Tibetan Vajrayana  Buddhism in Thai social context, there were 3 musical types: the music ensemble, music performance with Mantra, and Mantra without music performance.
