Abstract

Corruption is one of major obstacle hindering economic development of a nation. In other words, economic growth can not be sustained in a country where the corruption prevails. The objective of this study is to find out the factors determining the corruptions in ASEAN nations. To achieve the objectives, the panel analysis is adopted. The findings drawn from this study suggest that Fixed effects model is more proper. The results show that ratio of government expenditure on military as well as GDP per capita reduce the corruptions whereas mean years of schooling increase the corruption prevalence. Not surprisingly, higher democracy tends to eliminate the corruption in ASEAN nations.
