Analyze the Double Bass jazz accompaniment by Eddie Gomez’ in the Bill Evans Trio

Abstract

          The role of the double bass in jazz music is accompanying using two feel and walking bass. Yet, there a few methods of double bass accompanying.
         This research aims to analyze the double bass jazz accompaniment by Eddie Gomez’ in the Bill Evans Trio from 1969 – 1970 AC. The collection came from note transcription study, and analysis of note samples of leading to conclusion. The research reveals that Eddie Gomez has unique accompanying approaches for the trio, which distinguished him from his contemporaries. Eddie Gomez used following approaches, 1) two feel 2) tremolos 3) syncopation 4) triplets
