The Modern Library Management Guideline of Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University

Abstract

          The objectives of this research were 1) to study the current and desirable situation of modern library management to respond to the students’ needs assessment; and 2) to propose a modern library management guideline for the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University to respond the students’ needs assessment. The research design was mixed-method research. The sample group in this research, the researcher used random sampling from the tables of Krejcie, Robert V. and Morgan, Daryle W, 1970). The sample group was 201 medical. The quantitative data were collected by using a questionnaire assessing the needs assessment of the library management in 4 dimensions which were personnel, information resources, premises and supplies, and services. Percentage, mean score, standard deviation, and Priority Need Assessment Index was used for quantitative data analysis. The qualitative data was collected from 5 experts by applying an interview form and was analyzed by using frequency distributions and content analysis. A modern library management guideline was created in accordance with the results of the study. The results found that all 4 dimensions of the library management need assessment were at on high level at that time. The needs analysis also revealed the most demanding dimensions were ranked from information resources, services, premises and supplies, and personnel respectively. The modern library management guideline of the Faculty of Medicine Vajira Hospital, Navamindradhiraj University covered 4 dimensions and 3 items each. Henceforth, the guideline shall be to improve according to the needs of the library service users.
