The Participation in Political Activities of the People of Khok Si Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

          This research aimed 1) to study the level of participation in political activities of the people of Khok Si Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province; 2) to compare the participation in political activities of the people of Khok Si Sub-district; 3) to study participation in political activities of the people of Khok Si Subdistrict based on the Seven Sappurisadhamma (Virtues of the Gentleman) ; 4) to study the way of participation in political activities of people in Khok Si Sub-district. This study was carried out by means of mixed research methodologies: quantitative and qualitative. The sample consisted of 383 participants and 15 key informants. The statistics used for data analysis were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation and t-test (One-Way Analysis of Variance). The tools used in data collection included questionnaire and in-depth interview. The obtained data were interpreted by contextual content analysis techniques.
          The results of the research were as follows:
          1) The participation in political activities of the people of Khok Si Subdistrict overall was statistically rated at a high level.
          2) The results of comparing opinions on participation in political activities of the people revealed that the independent variables consisting of sex, age, education level, occupation, and average monthly income were all significantly different at the level of 0.05, according to the hypothesis.
          3) The participation in political activities of the people of Khok Si Subdistrict according to the principle of the Seven Sappurisadhamma overall was rated at a high level.
          4) The guideline for participation in political activities of people in Khok Si Subdistrict is that the Seven Sappurisadhamma has been applied to various political activities including voting, electoral campaign, and contact as a citizen.
