Thailand Policy for Preventing and Subjugating Human Trafficking

Abstract

          This academic article is aimed to study the success of the policy for protecting and subjugating human trafficking that the government has been trying to fight with, and there is the evaluation result based on the standard of eradicating human trafficking as identified in law TVPA (Trafficking Victims Protection Act) Tier 2 level: the country that doesn’t completely follow the minimum standard of law TVPA but tries hard to meet the standard within 5 years during 2016 to 2020. However, Trafficking in Persons Report: TIP Report of United States Department of State 2021 that surveyed and collected human trafficking data around the world identified that in 2021, Thailand is ranked downward from Tier2 to Tier 2 Watch List: the country that is inevitably observed together with Asean countries, Brunei, Cambodia, and Vietnam because the government couldn’t demonstrate the effort which increases in total when comparing with the duration of previous report.
          “Human Trafficking” is a social phenomenon that many countries have tried to resolve for decades. Thailand has concentrated on and determined Policy for Preventing and Subjugating Human Trafficking. The policy has continually been evolved to improve standard level of protecting and supervising Thai people and alien labors, which focuses on resolving the problem by raising it the national agenda. Hereby, the solution is conducted through the integration from every region, which combines the legal improvement, the relevant regulations, and the management including the enhancement of the officials’ competence to enact the law effectively together with the integration of network’s cooperation both domestic and international in every dimension.
