Abstract

          This article aims to study the tradition of creating Buddha images in Thailand. According to the study, it was found that, the creation of Buddha images in Thailand has been influenced by India. In the first period in Thailand, Buddha images were created starting from the Dvaravati Kingdom. Most of Buddhism in this kingdom is Theravada. Which is related to the South Indian. Buddhist art in this period has created a lot from large objects down to smaller ones.Most of the materials used in casting or building the Buddha image are terracotta, stone, gold, bronze, cement, casting bricks, limestone and wood.The main goal in creating Buddha images in Thailand is to become Buddhanusati.In addition, the concept of creating a Buddha image is therefore a tradition of Thai Buddhists because of the virtue which is the inspiration for the creation as well.
