Constructing a Violin Teaching Methods Guidebook of Leopold Auer for Teaching Violin Major Students at Hainan Tropical Ocean University, China

          This dissertation focuses on constructing a violin teaching methods guidebook based on Leopold Auer's pedagogical principles for violin major students at Hainan Tropical Ocean University, The People’s Republic of China. Leopold Auer, a renowned violinist and teacher, developed a comprehensive approach to violin instruction that emphasizes technical proficiency, artistic expression, individualized teaching, understanding musical styles, performance preparation, and holistic musician development. This study explores how Auer's methodologies can be adapted to fit the unique cultural and educational context of Hainan Tropical Ocean University. Through a combination of literature review, interviews with experts and students, and practical application, the guidebook aims to provide a structured and effective curriculum that enhances the technical and artistic capabilities of violin major students. Key recommendations include rigorous technical training, fostering expressive playing, personalized instruction, performance skills development, and promoting a well-rounded musical education. The guidebook seeks to bridge the gap between Auer's timeless methods and contemporary violin pedagogy in China, contributing to the advancement of violin education in the region.
