Constructing Vocal Training Workbook for Non-Basic Skill Vocal Music Students at Mingshi Education and Training School in Jinan, Shandong, China

The purpose of this paper were: (1) To study vocal music teaching for non basic skill from experts;(2) To construct a workbook for non basic vocal music students;(3) To use the workbook in experimental group; and(4) To evaluate the effectiveness of teaching by using the workbook.
The research method of this study was a mixed research method of qualitative and quantitative research. The researcher used an interview from experts, compiled a workbook for non basic vocal music students, and conducted teaching experiment by using the workbook, the samples are 6 vocal music students with different talents from Mingshi Education and training School in Jinan, Shandong, The People's Republic of China.
The research findings were: (1)The teaching method of vocal music should be combined with theory and practice, set up teaching strategies from basic to advanced according to students' ability and level, and gradually guide students to develop skills and music understanding ability;(2)Fundamental vocal music workbook contained four chapters:The basic knowledge of vocal music,the basic method of singing,the articulation of the singing and the singing of the primary works,singing the works for the test;(3) Using the workbook to teach students had 15 lessons, each lesson last for 90 minutes, evaluated by a comparison of formative and summative tests; and (4) The results of teaching showed that the students' rational average scores of formative and summative tests was 80. 15/86.73 met with hypothesis which mean the Fundamental vocal music workbook was effective and good for further use.
