Constructing the Hainan Folk Song Vocal Guidebook for Teaching the First-Year Students at Sanya College of Music, Sanya City, Hainan Province, China

The objectives of this research were: (1) to study a vocal music teaching method; (2) to study the Hainan folk songs; (3) to construct a guidebook for teaching of Hainan folk song vocal music; (4) to use the guidebook teaching Hainan folk song for teach a student; and (5) to evaluate effective of guidebook or learning. The research methodology is mix method research. Qualitative research methods used interview form and the quantitative research method is to test the teaching effect. The research tool were interview form, Ioc form, Formative test, Summative test. Four key informants for interview.
The research finding: (1) the teaching method emphasizes deepening knowledge, problem-solving, and mathematical skills, with teachers guiding students, using modern technology objectively, and focusing on dynamic assessment and practice in music education; (2) Hainan folk songs, a cultural heritage of Chinese minorities, reflect local social, economic, literature, and art. Passed down through oral singing and hand-copied text, they contribute to rural revitalization and cultural inheritance, with unique rhythms and melody fluency; (3) The guidebook consists of three part and seven chapter, each lesson is divided into three links: "Vocal skill", "Hainan folk song", "Synthesis Development", and "homework" after each class; (4) The Hainan folk song teaching guidebook is beneficial for first-year students at Sanya University, as it helps them improve their singing skills and expressiveness. The guidebook emphasizes the importance of emotional expression, vocal position, and correct breathing in learning Hainan folk songs, despite their different pronunciations from Mandarin. It is suitable for lower grade students and Hainan folk song enthusiasts; and (5) The evaluation results show that all 10 students show continuous development, with scores increasing significantly after studying the singing teaching textbook. Students with low scores in the folk song singing category also saw an increase.
