Development of a teaching blended learning model of basic computer subjects to build academic achievement and computer skills using For Bachelor’ Degree Students at Savannakhet University Lao People’s Democratic Republic

Abstract

        This research aimed to 1) study the factors of teaching management according to the blended model, 2) develop a blended teaching model for basic computer subjects, 3) study the results of using the teaching model, using research and development methods. The sample group was 31 first-year students, Faculty of Information Technology, Savannakhet University, first semester, academic year 2024, selected by cluster random sampling. The research instruments included the assessment form for the factors of teaching management according to the blended model, the pre- and post-test achievement test, the assessment form for basic computer skills, and the satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used to analyze the data were  S.D and t-test.
         The research results found that 1. The results of the development of the teaching model according to the blended model had 6 important components: 1) the origin and importance of the model, 2) principles, 3) objectives, 4) content, 5) the teaching and learning process, which had 4 steps: step 1, introduction, 2, study and discussion, 3, activities that focused on knowledge creation, 4, reflecting on the results of the activities, 5, presenting the results and evaluating, and 6) measurement and evaluation. 2. The results of the experiment using the teaching model, the experimental group students had higher academic achievement and basic computer skills after studying than before studying with statistical significance at the .01 level. The experimental group students had higher academic achievement and basic computer skills after studying than the control group with statistical significance at the .01 level. The students were also highly satisfied with the organization of learning activities. The factors of the teaching and learning management according to the blended model were at a medium level.
