Guidelines for managing Cub Scout activities to Promote Student Self Control Under the Jurisdiction of the Suphanburi Provincial Primary Educational Service Area Office

Abstract

          This research is a Research and Development (R&D) study aimed at examining the current status and challenges in managing Cub Scout activities, developing and validating guidelines for their management, assessing the outcomes of the implemented guidelines, and evaluating their appropriateness, feasibility, and usefulness. The sample consisted of 133 primary school principals under the Office of Primary Education Service Area in Suphan Buri Province, selected using Krejcie and Morgan's table and stratified random sampling from various areas. Preliminary quality evaluators included five experts, ten Cub Scout teachers, and 48 Grade 1–3 students participating in Cub Scout activities at Wat Phai Koh Pho Ngam School under the Office of Primary Education Service Area, Suphan Buri District 1. Research instruments included questionnaires, suitability and consistency evaluation forms, a student self-regulation assessment, and focus group discussion topics. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, percentage, and content analysis methods.
          The research results revealed that the overall management of Cub Scout activities in primary schools under the Office of Primary Education Service Area in Suphan Buri Province was at a high level. The developed guidelines for managing Cub Scout activities to promote self-regulation among primary school students consisted of four components: leadership, control, organization, and planning. The validation results indicated that the guidelines were rated at the highest level. After implementing the guidelines, the evaluation of students’ self-regulation demonstrated that their performance was at a high level, meeting the established criteria. The developed guidelines were found to be appropriate for the management context of Cub Scout activities in schools, practical for implementation, and beneficial for teaching and organizing Cub Scout activities.
