The Lei Feng in the Main-melody Animation: Ideology Reproduction in the Context of Contemporary China

In contemporary China, with the rapid changes in the media environment and the in-depth development of globalisation, the transmission and acceptance of ideology are facing new challenges, and Main-melody animation, as an important carrier of ideological education, carries the important task of passing on and innovating socialist core values. This study is part of a doctoral dissertation, and adopts a qualitative research method to study four Lei Feng Main-melody animations as case studies, with the help of Althusser's theoretical framework of "ideological state apparatus". The objectives : 1) To analyse the role and influence of Lei Feng Main-melody animations in the ideological reproduction of modern Chinese society; 2) To analyse the modern transformation and social acceptance of Lei Feng's spirit, as well as the impact of this transformation on public attitudes and national identity.
The results :1) Lei Feng animation demonstrates its effective cultural practice as an ideological state apparatus by transmitting socialist core values and reproducing specific social relations and behavioural patterns in contemporary Chinese society.2) Despite the importance of Lei Feng animation in transmitting traditional values, its acceptance has been challenged in the face of social pluralism and changes in values, which has prompted the production team to attempt to modernise and transform to meet the needs of modern audiences.
