Factors in Remote Work Influencing Job Stress: A Systematic Review

Abstract

     This research is a systematic literature review with the aim of synthesizing the factors of Remote working policy implementation. Which influences job stress of personnel. By collecting published research articles dating back no more than 5 years from the Scopus website database. The search terms used were “Remote work” and “Job stress”, which found a total number of 68 research articles. Then, we used the criteria to exclude articles so that only research articles that met the research objectives were left. After research article screening, a total of 15 articles were obtained and used for a literature review to further synthesize the factors mentioned. The results of the synthesis of the factors were found to be factor of Remote work that influence employee stress can be grouped into 3 major groups and 7 sub-components shown as follows. 1st group: Administrative of the organization which have 4 sub-components: 1.1) Human resource management, 1.2) Leadership and organizational support, 1.3) Training and development, and 1.4) Remote work policies. 2nd group: Employee self-management which have 2 sub-components: 2.1) Work-Life Boundary Management 2.2) Employee autonomy and flexibilities. 3rd group: Technology components which have 1 sub-component: 3.1) Technology and infrastructure.

     This research is a systematic literature review aimed at synthesizing the factors of ‎remote work that influence job stress among personnel. Research articles ‎published within the past five years were collected from the Scopus database ‎using the search terms "Remote work" and "Job stress," yielding 68 articles. After ‎applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were selected for ‎systematic synthesis. The results revealed that the factors of remote work ‎influencing job stress can be grouped into three major categories comprising ‎seven sub-components: Group 1, Organizational Management Factors, includes ‎four sub-components: human resource management, leadership and ‎organizational support, training and development, and remote work policies. ‎Group 2, Employee Self-Management Factors, includes two sub-components: ‎work-life boundary management and employee autonomy and flexibility. Group ‎‎3, Technology Factors, includes one sub-component: technology and ‎infrastructure.‎
