The relationship between 5S activities and lean processes that affects cost reduction and increasing the operational efficiency of community enterprises in Chiang Rai Province.

Abstract

Most community enterprises face the problem of high cost. Reducing production costs and improving operational efficiency for community enterprises is nowadays important. If production costs can be reduced will have a competitive advantage.The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between 5S activities and lean processes. By reducing costs and increasing the efficiency of the operation of community enterprises in Chiang Rai province. It is a qualitative research. There are criteria for selecting key informants, namely those involved in business operations. community enterprise and community groups and 10 participants participated in the 5S activities and the Lean process. The instrument used in the research was an interview form. Analyze data inductively (Analytic Induction) by bringing the data to be organized and classified in a systematic way. It is then used to interpret, relate, and draw conclusions from the information gathered.

The results showed that (1) 5S activities in the area of clean up convenience were related to the lean process in reducing wastage in waiting. Reducing movement wastage and the reduction of waste in the production process, such as Guin Lam Sausage Group and Ban Muang Luang Food Processing Group (2) 5S activities on cleaning, cleaning and building habits It is related to the 7 Lean processes, namely, Women's Skill Development Weaving Group. Agricultural Product Processing Group, Santisuk Subdistrict Watermelon rice products Kin Lam Oa Sausage Ban Muang Luang Food Processing Group and Thong Kluay Hom products. (3) 5S activity was related to the lean process. by using value-added activity analysis (VA) techniques, consisting of reducing inventory waste; Reducing transportation waste Reducing waste in the production process (4) 5S activities were related to the lean process. By using a non-value-added activity analysis (NVA) technique, it consists of reducing excessive production waste.
