Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop an instructional process based on the transferring of learning approach and the elaboration likelihood model of persuasion to promote nursing practice skills and attitude towards gerontological nursing for nursing students. Thirty-six purposive samples of Mahidol University nursing students were selected. The research instruments included rubric scores which the intra-rater reliability was .934 and the attitude test towards gerontological nursing which Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient was 0.825. The research finding illustrated that the instructional process was composed of five components: 1) principles; 2) objectives; 3) the four-step instruction which was motivation and ability stimulation, creating foundation knowledge and nursing care plan, nursing practice, and reflection and conclusion; 4) identifying learning concepts, and 5) assessing an instructional process. Moreover, the result of using the instructional process showed that after the experiment, the sample group had higher scores in both nursing practice skills and attitude towards gerontological nursing at the significant level of 0.05.
