This mixed-method research aims: 1) to commission the choral arrangements of five songs dedicated to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, namely, Nai Luang Khong Phaen Din, Ton Mai Khong Phor, Oh Phra Khuen Suang, Phra Racha Nai Nitahn, and Phleng Khong Phor, to add to the Thai choral repertoire; 2) to design guidelines for the effective teaching of the five choral arrangements; 3) to study the results of the teaching guidelines; and 4) to evaluate the teaching effectiveness by choral singers. The research process is: 1) commission choral arrangements; 2) analyze the arrangements; 3) design teaching guidelines appropriate for the arrangement; 4) demonstrate teaching in the form of lecture recital; and 5) the audience and 21 singers evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching.
The evaluation results of the singers show an increased level of the appreciation of the songs. They also report that the instructions facilitate a deeper understanding of the melody, harmony and rhythm of the pieces, and increased other music skills. The audience reported satisfaction with the selection and variety of the pieces, and a clear understanding of how to teach the pieces.
