The objectives of this research were to design and implement individualized lesson plans for developing the participants’ English oral communication skills based on the individualized instruction concept.  The target groups of the study were two adult learners. The research instruments used to analyze individual’s needs consisted of a semi-structured interview, Honey and Mumford’s learning style questionnaire (Honey & Mumford, 2000) andan oral communication skill test based on IELTS’s – the nine-band scale speaking assessment criteria.

The results of research showed the design of individualized instruction lessons for developing English oral communication skills based on the analysis of the participant’s needs. The lesson design for the first adult learner consisted of 2 unit plans, 10 lesson plans with a total of 30 hours.  The lesson design for the second adult learnerconsisted of 3 unit plans, 10 lesson plans with a total of 30 hours.  The implementation and evaluation of the individualized instruction lessons showed that both participants developed higher levels of abilities in the oral communication skill test after the lesson.  Based on the IELTS nine-band scale, the first adult learnerdeveloped English oral communication skills level from level 2 (Intermittent user) to level 4 (Limited user).  The second adult learner developed English oral communication skills from level 4 (Limited user) to level 6 (Competent user)
