Abstract

This article is aimed to present the development of Thailand’s occupational standard of school administrator through the collaboration between Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization) and Siam University. The occupational standard was developed through the following phrases. First, researcher studied occupational standard of school administrator in three countries in addition to school administrator’s occupation in Thailand. Findings of the study were presented to approximately 60 stakeholders to develop conceptual framework for Thailand’s occupational standard of school administrator. Researcher developed Thailand’s occupational standard of school administrator through functional analysis technique that employed workshops of 15 experienced school administrators to develop functional map consisting of key purpose, key role, key function, unit of competence and element of competence. The occupational standard of school administrator was then presented to expert committee to validate the occupational standard and presented to seminar of 86 stakeholders to further realize their concerns and suggestions. The occupational standard of school administrator consists of 1 key purpose, 3 key roles, 7 key functions, 21 units of competence and 49 elements of competence. The occupational standard of school administrator also indicates performance criteria, range statement and assessment procedure. This occupational standard is to be employed as Thailand’s occupational standard of school administrator.
