A Study of Thai Classical Dance Teaching Tactics in Ram Mae Bot Yai Based on Dance Pedagogy of Paitoon Khaemkhang (National Artist of Thailand)

This research consists purposes were 1. to investigate the instructional strategies for the “Mae Bot Yai” Thai classical dance repertoire practiced by Master Paitoon Khaemkhang (National Artist) and 2. to analyze his specialized pedagogical techniques. This study employed a qualitative research design. The research instruments included in-depth interviews and participant observation records. The target group consisted of five participants selected through purposive sampling. The data collected from the research instruments were analyzed using content analysis. the findings revealed that 1) Master Paitoon Khaemkhang instructional strategies prioritize foundational mastery to ensure learners' movements strictly adhere to traditional Thai choreographic standards and 2) His methodology can be categorized into distinct teaching techniques and pedagogical models characterized by clear, sequential, and continuous stages. These strategies facilitate a holistic development of learners, encompassing cognitive understanding and technical precision through unique transmission methods. Furthermore, the process emphasizes the cultivation of an “artistic spirit” instilling discipline, responsibility and cultural pride. Consequently, these instructional models possess significant potential for theoretical development, serving as a framework to elevate the standards of performing arts education in Thailand.
