Scholarships and the Promotion of I-WiSe Competencies of Prince of Songkla University Students : A Case Study of Undergraduate Students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to assess the I-WiSe competency levels of undergraduate students at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, who received continuous faculty scholarships and 2. to analyze the influence of scholarship-related factors on these competencies. This study employed a quantitative research approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire whose content validity was examined by three experts (IOC = 0.97). The sample consisted of 37 scholarship students who continuously received scholarships until graduation in the academic year 2025 (during 2022–2025), selected through purposive sampling. The data collected from the questionnaires were analyzed using statistical methods including percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and comparison of differences among groups using the Kruskal–Wallis test. The research findings revealed that 1) the overall I-WiSe competency was at a high level (x̅= 4.36, S.D. = 0.49). Individually, Integrity exhibited the highest mean at the highest level (x̅= 4.71, S.D. = 0.35), followed by Discipline at a high level (x̅= 4.32, S.D. = 0.45), while Wisdom-seeking recorded the lowest mean within the high-level range (x̅= 4.16, S.D. = 0.61) and 2) Analysis of scholarship factors indicated that scholarship type, funding duration, and scholarship conditions did not significantly influence I-WiSe competency levels at .05 significance level.
