There is a lack of knowledge and understanding about proper waste management and the need for training to educate. 2) Public participation is still in the form of participating in activities according to opportunities. Meanwhile, community leaders and public health volunteers play an important role in driving and providing advice. Local government organizations should promote continuous participation mechanisms and 3) the development approach to a sustainable waste-free community consists of 4 main steps (1) building knowledge and awareness on waste management (2) separating waste at the household level according to the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) (3) reusing waste and creating added value and (4) continuous monitoring, evaluation and development.
