Guidelines for Developing the Characteristics of Professional School Administrators under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Khon Kaen

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. Study the components and guidelines for developing the characteristics of professional school administrators under the Khon Kaen Secondary Educational Service Area Office 2. Study the current situation, desired situation and necessary requirements of the characteristics of professional school administrators under the Khon Kaen Secondary Educational Service Area Office and 3. Study the guidelines for developing the characteristics of professional school administrators under the Khon Kaen Secondary Educational Service Area Office. This study employed a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative and qualitative research. The research instruments consisted of a semi-structured interview, a questionnaire and an evaluation form. The sample comprised 381 school administrators and teachers, with the sample size determined using Krejcie and Morgan's (1970) table at a 0.05 margin of error and selected through multi-stage random sampling. The target group of 381 participants was selected through purposive sampling. Data collected from the questionnaire and the evaluation form were analyzed using descriptive statistics, namely mean and standard deviation and the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified). while data obtained from the semi-structured interviews were analyzed through content analysis. The research findings revealed that 1) The components and indicators of the characteristics of professional school administrators consist of 6 components and 24 indicators. 2) The current state has a moderate mean score This research consists purposes were (x̅= 3.44, S.D. = 0.04), while the desired state is at the highest level This research consists purposes were (x̅= 4.60, S.D. = 0.03). The needs, ranked from highest to lowest are (1) knowledge and abilities (2) management skills (3) leadership (4) development of educational innovation (5) adaptable management and (6) morality and ethics and 3) The guidelines for developing the characteristics of professional school administrators include principles, objectives, content (6 units), development processes and measurement and evaluation, with the overall appropriateness and feasibility evaluation at the highest level (x̅= 4.67, S.D. = 0.49).
