A Teacher Competency Enhancement Program in Active Learning Through Project-Based Learning to Enhance Problem-Solving Competencies for Upper Secondary Students at Kalasinpittayasan School

Abstract

This research consists purposes were to develop a competency enhancement program for teachers in active learning management through project-based learning, aimed at promoting problem-solving skills among upper secondary school students at Kalasin Pittayasan School. This study employed a quantitative research design. The research instruments were a questionnaire and a knowledge test. The sample groups consisted of 140 participants in Phase 1 and 102 participants in Phase 3, while the target groups included 9 participants in Phase 2 and 17 participants in Phase 3. Data collected from these research instruments were analyzed using statistical software, employing mean, standard deviation, and percentage as the primary statistical measures. The findings revealed that the competency enhancement program for teachers in active learning management through project-based learning to foster problem-solving skills comprised five components: 1) principles, 2) objectives, 3) content, consisting of Module 1: Active Learning Management, Module 2: Project-Based Learning Management, and Module 3: Problem-Solving Skills, 4) development process, and 5) evaluation. The overall results of the assessment of the program’s appropriateness (x̅= 4.92, S.D. = 0.19) and usefulness (x̅= 4.98, S.D. = 0.08) were rated at the highest level.
