Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to study the problems and obstacles in the development for performance of police officers after the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and 2. to suggest guidelines for police officers after the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. This research is qualitative in nature. The research instrument is an in-depth interview, with the target group consisting of the district chief officer, police officers, and public health academic experts in Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province, totaling 10 participants. They were selected using purposive sampling. The data collected from interviews and relevant documents were then analyzed using content analysis. Research findings revealed 1) Problems and obstacles facing police officers following the COVID-19 outbreak. Officers at the Samut Sakhon City Police Station face a high risk of COVID-19 infection due to their teamwork, close contact with at-risk groups, and inability to choose their own situations. This poses a widespread risk of infection. Furthermore, officers' housing is often in crowded police flats, making it difficult to maintain social distancing. If even one infected person is found, the entire station may be quarantined. Furthermore, Samut Sakhon has a large migrant workforce, increasing the number of officers required. However, they lack training on infectious disease knowledge and 2) Police officer work practices following the COVID-19 outbreak revealed that improvements to police officer performance during the COVID-19 outbreak include allocating reserve personnel to support missions at stations and operational areas, providing adequate disease prevention equipment, implementing rapid testing and treatment systems, providing necessary knowledge and skills training, coordinating with other agencies, and promoting the use of modern technology to increase efficiency and reduce the risk of infection among officers.
