Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to study faith and beliefs and the sacred area of ​​Wat Prang Ku Praphachai Khon Kaen Province and 2. to create contemporary Thai dance from Wat Prang Ku Praphachai. Khon Kaen Province is a Qualitative research There is a research tool which is an include questionnaires and interviews with a target group of 38 people, consisting of a group of 4 knowledgeable people, a group of 8 people of practitioners, and a group of general informants of 20 people who came from the purposive selection method. Specifically, the data gathered from the interviews and related documents were analyzed descriptively. The research results found that 1) Prangku Praphachai It is Khmer architecture. Built with laterite and sandstone. Built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII of the ancient Khmer Kingdom in approximately The temple dates back to the 18th century, or around the years 1720 to 1780. The present condition is much damaged but has been well taken care of by the temple and community. And there is also a sacred well (baray) It is one of the sacred wells. Water from the pond will be brought to be used for important royal ceremonies on various ceremonies of His Majesty King Rama 9 and King Rama 10 and 2) Utokabaramee is a creation of contemporary Thai dance. From the characteristics of Thai classical dance by combining dance styles and postures to create unique dance style It also brings dancing in the form Northeastern dance that has a sweet appearance and bringing in international dance to create an aesthetics in the performance. Come together to create contemporary Thai dance It is also able to cement the importance of community areas as sacred areas and memory areas that can support valuable tourism. Along with expanding the economy in the community to generate income as well.
