The Effects of Using Somebody Wanted but So Then (SWBST) Technique to Improve English Reading Comprehension Abilities of The Sixth Graders

Abstract

The purpose of this research were 1. to compare English reading comprehension abilities before and after using Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST) of the sixth graders and 2. to study the satisfaction of the sixth graders toward Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST). This research is a Quantitative Research There are research tools which are lesson plans with Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST). the English reading comprehension test the satisfaction questionnaire toward using Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST). The research sample is 18 students in Grade 6 who are studying in the first semester of the academic year 2023, all purposively selected. The data were analyzed by mu, sigma and dependent t-test. The results of the study were 1) English reading comprehension abilities of the sixth graders after using Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST) were higher than before at 0.05 and 2) The students' satisfaction toward Somebody Wanted But So Then (SWBST) was at the high level. (µ = 4.44, S.D.  = 0.51)
