Factors Affecting the Selection of Accounting Software Packages for Accounting System Operations of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Upper Central Region

Abstract

This research consists purposes were 1. to investigate the problems and solutions regarding the usage of accounting software packages of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the upper central region 2. to examine the behavior in using accounting software packages of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the upper central region and 3. to study the factors affecting the selection of accounting software packages of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the upper central region. This study was quantitative research. A questionnaire was used as a research instrument for data collection. The sample consisted of 400 SME operators using accounting software packages for accounting operations in the upper central region, obtained from the sample size calculation with Taro Yamane's formula at a margin error level of 0.05. The sample was selected based on simple random sampling. Data collected were then analyzed by using descriptive statistics to determine percentage, means, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and multiple regression analysis. The findings indicated that 1. the features, capabilities, and accessibility of the accounting software packages were overall at the highest level (x̅= 4.28). 2. Manufacturers and distributors were overall at the highest level (x̅= 4.25), and 3. price factors were also at the highest level (x̅= 4.31). as well as Hypothesis testing found that (1) the factors related to the features, capabilities, and accessibility of the accounting software packages had a statistically significant positive influence on the selection of accounting software packages at the 0.05 level. (2) The factors related to the manufacturers and distributors of the accounting software packages also had a statistically significant positive influence on the selection of the accounting software packages at the 0.05 level. Additionally and (3) the factors related to the price of the accounting software packages had a statistically significant positive influence on the selection of the accounting software packages at the 0.01 level.
